Marine and Mathieu’s wedding at Château Les Crostes

I was privileged to be able to photograph Marine and Mathieu’s wedding in this spectacular setting.

They had chosen for the wedding the beautiful region of Lorgue, a mediaeval town in the south of France where their families are from.

Marine and Mathieu had chosen the stunning Château Les Crostes for their wedding celebrations, a renowned vineyard belonging to the Luxembourg royal family.

Les Crostes Château is a 17th century property built by the Count of Ramatuelle and is the ideal setting for a Provence wedding.

Located just 40 minutes from Saint-Tropez and the Mediterranean coast, it’s a real haven of peace with the different backdrops of Provence; olive groves, rolling vineyards, forests and gardens.

As a photographer, it’s a real pleasure to have so many different landscapes to provide different atmospheres, styles and emotions for the wedding photographs.

The day began with the bride and groom getting ready in their respective rooms at the Château Les Crostes which offers the ideal décor for this type of photo which has become essential.

The bride and groom’s preparations are always very moving times to capture. The photos should reflect the atmosphere and the excited anticipation of the bride and groom and the bridal party and groomsmen. It’s the ideal opportunity to capture the personality of the subjects, moments of natural joy or highlight some of the details that have been so carefully prepared by the couple, the wedding dress hanging up, the wedding rings, matching shoes etc.

Next are photos of the ceremony. For Martine and Mathieu, this was held inside the beautiful Lorgues church but ceremonies are often held in formal gardens. The gardens of the Château Les Crostes were wonderfully suited to these photos.

The bride and groom had a very unusual vintage car to travel from the church to the chateau, so unusual that the groom had to sit in the boot! This was also an opportunity to take some unforgettable photos.

The bride and groom and I had decided to wait until the end of the day for the shots of the couple together. These were done in a natural reportage-style to reflect their lovely day.

We also wanted to take these photos to make the most of the Château de Crostes’ grounds and the beautiful Provence evening light.

Getting married in Provence always promises exceptional wedding photos that are bathed in a unique light and atmosphere.

It’s an atmosphere which is at its best at dusk, the “golden hour” where the light gives a golden hue to photos and lets the green of the surrounding vegetation and brings out the pastel colours of the flowers and the lavender whilst highlighting bronzed skin and lighting up the bridal gown.

The grounds of the Château de Crostes offer several shoot locations, each with a different vibe and it was a real pleasure to take photos of the bride and groom in the midst of the vineyard to give the impression of space and also in the olive groves for a more intimate staging. A multitude of backdrops offering truly unforgettable memories.
